Chapter 6

Settling into Kaz’s had been no hardship. He still hadn’t moved more than half his things. Boston didn’t miss any of it. Each night, he drifted off to sleep with Kaz’s head resting on his chest. Every morning, he awoke with Kaz’s ass pressed against his crotch. He hadn’t thought himself capable of settling down with anyone. With Kaz, everything was so fucking simple. They didn’t fight. The place never seemed too small for the two of them. Boston had gone from always being alone to never being out of Kaz’s sight, and it was intoxicating. The more he got of Kaz, the more Boston wanted. He’d never felt greedier in his life and that was saying something.

“Funny story,” Kaz said as he stepped out of the bedroom and filled Boston with anticipation. “I tried to pay our mortgage today, and there wasn’t one.”

Boston swiped his tongue over his teeth, trying not to smile. “That’s odd.”

“Very,” Kaz agreed. “You wouldn’t know anything about that, would you?”

“Happy mistake?” Boston suggested.

Kaz moved closer. A dimple appeared in his cheek before disappearing again. It was obvious he was trying to hide his happiness. Yeah, so Boston had paid off the man’s mortgage. It hadn’t been huge and barely made a blip in Boston’s bank account. Kaz’s happiness, though, that shit was priceless.

“So it’s your opinion I should chalk this up to an odd blessing?”

“Absolutely,” Boston said. He sat forward on the couch and set his elbows on his knees, needing to get a hair closer to Kaz. “I need to talk to you,” Boston said, snagging Kaz’s waist the second Kaz was close enough and pulling the man down into his lap.

Kaz switched positions and straddled Boston’s hips, moving in close. “All right.”

Without thought, Boston’s hands moved to Kaz’s back. He massaged, loving the way his man felt beneath his palms. “My house sold.”

“Damn. That was fast.”

“Yeah.”

Kaz chewed on his bottom lip for a second. “Does that mean you’re ready to move out of my tiny two-bedroom house? Is that why you paid off the mortgage?”

Boston hated when Kaz talked down about his shit. Yeah, he’d called Kaz’s home tiny at one point, but it had nothing to do with Kaz’s house and everything to do with Boston’s insecurities. “No. I told you I love it here. You can’t hide from me in this place. Although I will have to find someplace for all my shit. We need to go through my things and figure out what we want to keep, if there’s a place for it, and what we’ll do with whatever is left over.” He swiped his hand through the air. “But I digress. I wanted to talk to you about my plans for the money I’m making off the sale.”

Kaz looked worried. Boston couldn’t decide why. “Okay.”

He massaged Kaz’s hips between his hands, hoping to ease the man’s worry. “Before I started winning every match, I used to prepare these awesome healthy meals while trying to stay in shape. You know how it is when you’re working out all the time.
